A point earned in a six-goal thriller!
Valley kicked off their league campaign in style, making a flying start in the September heat.
Jade opened the scoring after just five minutes, before Maddie finished brilliantly at the far post to double the lead. Harry then made it 3-0 after just 20 minutes, and Valley looked in complete control.
But the visitors weren't going down without a fight. A series of short corners and some scrambling to clear the ball in defending saw them pull two goals back before half-time.
Valley had the chance to restore their two-goal cushion when Emily stepped up for a penalty flick, but the keeper produced a great diving save.
Half-time: 3-2.
The second half was a completely different story. Valley found themselves under relentless pressure, with Liz producing some outstanding saves, including a brilliant effort to keep the ball out after it struck the post. Sienna bravely took a painful hit closing down a short corner, and the defence worked tirelessly to try and keep the oppo out of the D.
Despite Valley creating chances of their own, the visitors eventually found the equaliser following a quick break.
At 3-3, both sides pushed for a winner, but Valley dug deep through a nervy final few minutes to secure a point.
A frustrating result after such a brilliant start, but plenty of positives to take from the opening game. A proper test of the quality in this league, and a great team effort in tough conditions!
Full-time: CTVHC 3–3 Camberley & Farnborough1s
At teas, the team voted Liz MOM for her excellent saves and, Emily for DOD for her unfortunate P-Flick miss (although at least she volunteered herself to take it!!)
Thank you to Brian & Stuart for Umpiring, and to coach Chris for coming with us to our first game :)
