We started the match strongly, creating several early chances and winning a short corner within the first five minutes. Despite the pressure, the OGs defended well and their goalkeeper produced some excellent saves.
We came close on multiple occasions, with good attacking play from Maddie and a lovely move involving Lilly and Sienna, whose clever ball through the legs created another opportunity. Lola also went close, although one of her efforts was disallowed after the ball struck her foot. The breakthrough eventually came when Maddie finished well to give us a deserved 1-0 lead.
Both sides continued to trade short corners, with strong defensive work and goalkeeping at both ends, keeping the score tight. Sadly, for all the positive forward play, Maddie had to retire hurt, after receiving a nasty blow to the head. The teams went into half-time with TVHC 1-0 up.
We began the second half with the same energy, but OGs pushed forward creating pressure on the back line and won several short corners. It took a number of tackles and a series of important saves in the D to keep us in front. The pressure eased when, at the other end, a well-worked short corner between Lilly and Jade resulted in Jade putting the home side 2-0 up.
OGs continued to fight and eventually got their reward and pulled one back, setting up a tense finish for both sides. However, we held firm and stayed strong to the end and secured a well-deserved 2–1 victory.
A strong performance across the whole team who worked hard to continue their winning streak.
