On a bright and sunny day, Chertsey Thames Valley delivered an outstanding performance against Woking, securing a convincing 7–0 victory built on excellent passing, communication, and teamwork across the pitch.
From the first whistle, Chertsey controlled the game with slick ball movement and constant talking. The defensive unit of Helen, Nod, Lottie, Sienna, and Mon were exceptional, calmly transferring the ball around the back and starting attacks with confidence. Liz in goal had a remarkably quiet match and didn’t have a single touch, a real testament to the strength of the defence in front of her.
In midfield and attack, the press was relentless. Maddie, Harry, Lucy, and Poppy worked tirelessly to apply pressure high up the pitch, forcing turnovers and keeping Woking pinned back. Poppy showed real determination throughout, never giving up on a battle and setting the tone with her work rate.
Kat, Lilly, and Jade were brilliant in distribution, moving the ball quickly and intelligently to keep the tempo high.
There were plenty of notable moments throughout the match. Jade took some heavy challenges from the opposition but showed great resilience to keep going. Mon was perhaps unlucky to be spotted using her reverse stick right in front of the umpire, while Lilly narrowly missed converting a penalty. Despite these moments, the team stayed focused and composed.
Overall, it was a dominant, all-round team performance from Chertsey Thames Valley, combining skill, effort, and communication to earn a well-deserved 7–0 win on a beautiful sunny day.
