Chertsey delivered a composed and determined performance to defeat Reigate 2–0 in a competitive hockey match at Reigate.
Chertsey began strongly and thought they had taken the lead in the first half through a well-worked moves, but the goal was disallowed, causing visible frustration among the players, especially Kat, who thought she scored a great goal. Despite this setback, Chertsey remained focused and continued to apply pressure.
The breakthrough came when Maddy scored the opening goal, giving Chertsey a deserved 1–0 lead. The momentum stayed with Chertsey, and soon after, Lilly doubled the lead by converting a short corner, finishing calmly past the Reigate goalkeeper. Jade got a little lairy which ended up with her having some time out! And Helen mentioned something about Willy's and Whistles!
In the second half, Reigate attempted to fight back, pushing forward in search of a goal. However, Chertsey’s defense was well-organized and disciplined, limiting Reigate’s chances. Strong goalkeeping ensured a clean sheet, and Chertsey comfortably saw out the match.
Overall, it was a strong team performance by Chertsey, who fully deserved their 2–0 victory. And a special shout out to Pops for stepping up and her amazing help and strong effort playing with the ladies 1s.
