4-2 win

After a solid training on Thursday and watching the 2s game before, we were all very ready to go and face Woking. Determined to come out hard from the go, the forwards: Maddy, Harry, Lucy and Emily applied pressure to Woking’s defence and had various shots in the D unfortunately none could find the back of the net. We carried on battling in the first half with the defence, Naomi, Lottie, Sienna and Holly, staying strong and not letting Woking get many shots away, and Liz saving any that did come her way. Naomi gave Liz a fright when she took a 16 across the D and managed to just hit the post. Yet shortly after Emily managed to find herself and stick in the wrong place and scored an own goal (sorry Liz!!). This left us 1-0 down at half time, a position we had not been in this league season, but we were determined to go back out strong. Fuelled on sweets and Kat reminding us “we cannot lose” due to Ricoux household bragging rights.

In the second half we came out fierce with Kat, Helen, Lilly and Jade threading strong balls to the forwards. Lucy managed to pick one of these up and charged into the D, however was then faced with two Woking players bodies and took a hit but winning a p-flick!! And who else could take it… other than the birthday girl Lilly. Despite her nerves she slotted it straight into the bottom corner. With the goal, everyone in the team found their stride and began to fight for the win. With Sienna and Lottie blocking Woking’s attack from the wings we were able to maintain possession and Kat crossed a lovely ball to Maddy on the post and GOAL. It didn’t take long for another goal to occur as Kat calmly slotted into the corner of the goal and we were finally playing to our potential. With some breakdown of play and a questionable short corner Woking were able to score but we did not let them have any hope of a comeback. As we sealed the game win with Lilly and Jade working together in the middle and Jade smashing a ball to Maddy who scored again on the post! Making the final score 4-2 and maintaining our position of top of the league!!!!!

Thank you Brian & Stuart for umpiring.
