Match report Oxted 3 v Chertsey 1 - We were nervous but excited to start the new season in a new league following 3 really good warm up matches. We started confidently, moving the ball well through midfield and getting some early chances for the forwards. First to score was Maddy after some great closing down from Harry saw the ball crossed to the far post for a nice finish. Oxted hit back quickly after a penalty corner was awarded for a foot in the D from Monique - except this time it was nowhere near her foot. Corner converted 1-1. Play ebbed and flowed for a little while before Chertsey once again gained the upper hand. I really can’t remember who scored the goals and in what order and nobody in the team could either. We think it was Jade 3 Harry 1 Maddy 2 Lola 1 and Lilly 1 ?? However, once in the lead for a second time we never looked in trouble. Jade was on fire, Lilly was a magician, Lottie was an aerial queen and Lola was a menace. Even Liz, when called upon was on her toes and out of the blocks fast to thwart any chances that came Oxted’s way. Everyone played their part and an 8-1 final score did not flatter us. I hope Mani would have been pleased. Top of the league and a great start.
